OAK HILL ACADEMY STUDENTS EARN TOP HONORS IN NATIONAL LATIN EXAM

Approximately 135,000 students from all 50 states and 11 foreign countries recently participated in the 2014 National Latin Exam.  Receiving highest honors and gold medals and summa cum laude certificates (answering 38-40 correct) for the eighth grade class were Harry Jain(Red Bank) and Luke DeCresce (Holmdel). Dylan Raskin (Holmdel), John-Gabriel Bermudez(Wall), Megan Scafaria(Colts Neck) and Maya Shah(Red Bank) received silver medals and maxima cum laude certificates for scoring 36-37 correct out of 40; while David Neuwirth(Brielle), Dorothea Wotton(Middletown) and Salma AbdelBarry(Manasquan) received magna cum laude certificates.  Aiden Picadio(Pt. Beach), Jack Stryker(Middletown), Riya Singh(Morgnaville), and Alec Garbely(Freehold) received cum laude certificates.  OHA seventh grade students, Lucas Bruckmann(Freehold), Zachaary Basile(Middletown) and Dylan Servilla(Rumson) each earned a ribbon and an outstanding achievement certificate on the Introduction to Latin exam by scoring 38 to 39 correct. Receiving achievement certificates in the seventh grade were Julianna Troccoli(Tinton Falls), Hannah Gazdus(Rumson), Arya Sharma(Laurence Harbor), Jonathan Guiffre(Colts Neck) and Bryan Soler(Freehold). 

The National Latin Exam is offered under the joint sponsorship of the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League.  The ACL/NJCL National Latin Exam has been approved by the National Association of Secondary School Principals and placed on the Advisory List of National Contests and Activities.

Oak Hill Academy has participated in the exam and has consistently won awards for the last twenty-five years.  Much of the credit goes to Oak Hill Academy's Latin teacher, Miss Terry Burke.
