Atlantic Highlands, N.J. (Monmouth County) - A new business is opening in Atlantic Highlands, and the public is cordially invited to the official launch. The Original Keto Coffee Company, located at 35 First Avenue, will officially launch and demonstrate product on Sunday, September 20 at the ‘Taste of Atlantic Highlands’ Restaurant Tour. Members of the public are invited to a tasting of the coffee between the hours of 12-4 p.m. The tasting will be held at the beautiful courtyard of the Copper Canyon Restaurant/Blue Bay Inn, located at 51 First Avenue. In 2018, John De Robbio decided to try the Keto diet, but realized he needed to find a substitute for cow’s milk to be able to enjoy his coffee as cow’s milk contains too much sugar. After much experimentation, John created a process that included a family secret, a secret that his grandmother in Italy had taught him about coffee-making. One day while traveling on business, John went into a convenience store to get an iced coffee, frustrated that all the pre-made coffees had 50 to 60 grams of sugar and were full of preservatives and dairy. That is when everything came together in his mind. John emerged from the store without an iced coffee, realizing that his own home-brew version of coffee should be in the refrigerated case.

John immediately called his longtime friends, including Michael Krikorian, owner of the famous Copper Canyon Restaurant in Atlantic Highlands and could barely contain his enthusiasm, declaring, “I have something that you are really going to like.” The next day, John took samples of his keto coffee to the Copper Canyon, explaining there was no pre-made keto coffee beverage currently on the market. Michael and his team were amazed at the smooth, rich coffee taste and were surprised at how delicious it was. The friends decided then and there to create a partnership, experimenting and refining the beverage in the kitchen of Copper Canyon. The result is The Original Keto Coffee Company.
