A father of 11 was killed while protecting his son. A man was shot and killed while sitting at an Applebee's bar. And the terrible incidents of this past week didn't stop there.
This past weekend, a man drove into a doctor's office, yet another horrific incident in what was a deadly week in New Jersey.

- The suspected killer of a New Jersey father of 11 children was caught this past week, several days after he allegedly stabbed the man death while the father was defending his 8-year-old son during a sneaker robbery, authorities say. Nasiar Day, 19, of Newark has been charged with murder and several related charges in the death of Jose Malave, 30, of Jersey City. Read more here...
Malave - Two people were killed in two separate incidents attempting to cross busy roadways during the darkest time of the year in Sayreville this weekend. A 69-year old woman died after she was struck by a vehicle on Friday night on Washington Road. Then on Saturday evening, Nov. 18, a man was hit by several cars trying to cross Rt. 9. The man, whose identity has not been verified, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:06 p.m. Saturday. Read more here...
- A motorist died this weekend after he crashed into a medical office building during a police chase, authorities said. The chase started when the driver got into an argument around 4 p.m. Sunday with a Union Township police officer during a traffic stop, according to reports. The car was pulled over near Vaux Hall Road when the suspect told the officer that he had the AIDS virus, and then attempted to bite the officer, according to reports. Read more here...
- A Lawrence Township man has been arrested in connection with an execution-style fatal shooting that took place at the Applebee's restaurant near the Quakerbridge Mall, authorities announced. Noel Powell III, 27, was arrested at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office. Read more...
- A man fell to his death at a construction site in Piscataway Sunday morning. According to various news reports, the 20-year-old man was working as a roofer for a construction site on River Road. He fell about 60 feet at 8:30 Sunday morning. Read more here...
- A Stanhope man was electrocuted while replacing a light at a local beverage distribution center, Randolph police said. Sean King, 55, was working at High Grade Beverage on Monday, Nov. 13 when he used a scissor lift to replace an emergency light. King was shocked by live wires, police said. Read more here...
- An Edison man was charged with driving while intoxicated for his involvement a fatal motorcycle crash Tuesday night, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said. Read more here...
- A New Jersey Dunkin' Donuts owner was struck and killed Thursday in his own drive-thru, according to authorities. Jose Furtado, 65, of Haledon suffered serious injuries in the collision and was taken to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Paterson where he was pronounced dead at 7:46 p.m., according to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office.
