Human Remains Found Among Submerged Vehicles In Camden Co. River: Prosecutor

The unidentified remains were found among 3 vehicles pulled from the Cooper River, authorities said.

PENNSAUKEN, NJ — Human remains were found inside one of three vehicles pulled Thursday from the Cooper River, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

Authorities pulled three submerged vehicles from the river. Detectives discovered a person's remains in the driver-side area of one of the cars, the CCPO said.

Officials with the nonprofit search organization United Search Corps say the remains belong to Bernadine Waters Gunner, a Camden County mom who was reported missing in July 2010, NJ Advance Media first reported.

A diver with nonprofit search organization United Search Corps told NJ Advance Media the remains "definitely" belong to Gunner. She was last seen on Park Boulevard in Camden, just three miles from the river site.

The vehicles were found in the river along North Park Drive, south of Kaighn Avenue in Pennsauken, the CCPO said. North Park Drive runs along much of the county park's north side.
