State Aid For Middletown Schools Dips Slightly Compared To 2019
For 20-21, Middletown public schools will receive $15.7 million from the state, down five percent from the $16.6 million it got last year.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Last week, Gov. Phil Murphy released his revised state aid figures, and Middletown public schools received about one million less than they did last year from Trenton bean counters.
For the upcoming 20-21 school year, Middletown public schools will receive $15.7 million from the state, down 5.3 percent from the $16.6 million it got last year.
Middletown schools have seen a reduction in state aid for several years now, in response to overall enrollment in the district going down.

The first day for Middletown schools is Sept. 14, and the district is still on track to do its hybrid plan, with half the students in school on rotating days of the week. However, the district has made some last-minute changes as of last week: Special-needs students will no longer be in school for five full days a week. They will now be in school for half days.
Mary Ellen Walker is now officially the new Middletown schools superintendent.
