MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — Nearly every kid in New Jersey has a snow day Friday, so get out there and enjoy it! We rounded up Monmouth County's best sled hills:
- Holmdel Park in Holmdel: When there is snow on the ground and conditions are safe, Holmdel Park, Longstreet Rd., Holmdel, is the place to go for sledding. Call Holmdel Park at 732-946-9562 for current sledding conditions.
- Telegraph Hill in Holmdel, near the PNC Bank Arts Center (our favorite)
- Beacon Hill Country Club, in the Leonardo section of Middletown (the location where last winter a group of Middletown teen boys saved two small children who sledded onto a frozen pond and broke through the ice. The Middletown boys were interviewed on "Good Morning America" and honored by the governor. That story: Middletown Teens Save Children Who Sledded Into Frozen Pond)
- The very steep hill by Atlantic Highlands Elementary School (may be too steep for small children; kids have been injured on that hill)
- Wolf Hill in Wolf Hill Recreation Area in Oceanport
- Cheesequake State Park in Matawan
- Tower Hill in Red Bank
- The hill by Howell Public Library

In December 2020, the Monmouth County Parks System actually closed two of its most popular sled hills (Wolf Hill and Holmdel Park) due to coronavirus and concerns the hills would get too crowded.
