'Chairish' the Idea of a Good Art Show
The Monmouth Museum holds sixth annual exhibit, auction to benefit its educational programs.
"Chairish" is the word used to describe the feeling of Monmouth Musuem's latest exhibit and benefit auction ... Chairish the Museum, that is.
The show , at the museum on the Lincroft campus, features chairs designed by local artists and craftspersons. In past years the museum was pleased to include chairs designed by persons of note, including Ralph Nader and Queen Latifah.
This year's collection features a variety of artistic seats, from benches to rockers, each crafted according to a unique motif.

For instance, there's a "musical chair," designed by Seth Ruggles Hiler. More an art piece for show than a place to plop, Hiler used violins and bows to construction his seat.
With the exhibit opening yesterday, the chairs will be on display at the Museum and in various locations in the community from through Feb. 8. All chairs go up for silent auction on Feb. 10 from 6 to 8PM in the main gallery. All proceeds support educational programs at the museum.
