Woman Sentenced To 7 Years In Hit-And-Run Death of Marissa Procopio, 15
Toni Marletta had three teenagers in the car when she fatally hit Marissa Procopio.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ—A woman who pled guilty to the fatal hit-and-run of an Atlantic Highlands teenager has been sentenced to 7 years in jail, the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office said.
Toni Marletta pled guilty as part of a plea deal after she left the scene of an accident that killed 15-year-old Marissa Procopio, while driving with three teenagers, including her own daughter. Marletta will also lose her license for one year.
The sentence is in line with the earlier recommendation of 7 years; Marletta will have to serve the entirety of her sentence.

Marletta's attorney told the Asbury Park Press she fled because her insurance had lapsed; Procopio said Marletta fled because she was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Procopio died at the hospital the next day as a result of a massive head trauma. Five of her organs were donated to New Jersey residents in need.
Procopio's mother, Danielle, has said in the past that Marletta is getting off too easy.
"As far as I'm concerned (Toni) already got away with murder," Danielle Procopio told Patch at a July court date. "I'm so filled with rage right now I can't even cry."
