Cancer Is Top Killer Of Firefighters, So Millburn's Running A Prevention Seminar
The Millburn Fire Department will host a free firefighter cancer prevention seminar next month.
MILLBURN, NJ — The Millburn Fire Department will host a free all-day firefighter cancer prevention seminar next month. The event is open to firefighters.
NOTE: The event was previously scheduled for this weekend, but due to the storm, it will now be held Feb. 19 at Millburn High School.
"Cancer is the number one killer of firefighters," noted a release on the seminar. "Firefighters are getting cancer at a younger age, and these cancers are more aggressive and kill firefighters more quickly. There are many firefighters who have never been to the operations at Ground Zero who are coming down with firefighter cancers."
