DMDA Collecting for Red Cross Food Pantry

The collection box is at the farmers market each week.

The Downtown Millburn Development Alliance is collecting food at the farmers market to be donated to the food pantry at the Millburn-Short Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The Red Cross chapter reported in late September it needed food for the pantry, which had several nearly bare shelves. The pantry currently serves about 15 local families that have been mostly referred by agencies in the area like the township and SAGE. Among the items needed are pasta, cereal, sauce and items with protein like tuna fish and peanut butter.

The box for donations is at the DMDA table at the farmers market. The market is held each Tuesday at 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Lot 1, which is at the corner of Essex and Main streets. Food donations also can be dropped off at the Red Cross chapter house at the corner of Spring Street and Millburn Avenue.
