FREE FENCING CAMP PRESENTATION FOR KIDS

HAVE YOUR KIDS EVER TRY FENCING?

Your family is invited to join us for a FREE FENCING PRESENTATION at Oratory Preparatory School!

The summer camp in July (July 23-27th, 9am-1pm every day) will be taught by Serge Lilov and Michael McTigue from the nationally recognized Lilov Fencing Academy (www.LFANJ.com) that has been contributing to the development and spread of fencing in the United States since 1992. The camp will be run in a fun, easy to learn, and engaging atmosphere. Fencing is often called “physical chess” because it requires the fencer to develop mental tactics and strategy along with the application of physical skills and athleticism to defeat an opponent.  Fencing is challenging, but it is fun, exciting, and rewarding.

Fencing at the high school level provides an advantage in acceptance to the best colleges, nearly all of which have fencing programs. College administrators know that in addition to the physical attributes--speed, hand-eye coordination, and quick reflexes--most successful fencers are intelligent, creative, disciplined, and have excellent problem solving abilities.

The camp will teach the fundamentals of fencing, including footwork, use of one of the three weapons--foil, epee, or sabre--as well as tactics and strategies for success.  All equipment will be supplied.
