Millburn Complete Streets Project Gets $8.2M Financial Backing

About $7.8 million of the total price tag will be financed with bond anticipation notes, Millburn officials say.

Millburn, NJ – Millburn’s Complete Streets Initiative now has financial backing from township officials.

Millburn Township Committee unanimously passed an ordinance last week during its public meeting that appropriates $8.2 million for the project, which has been in the works since 2014.

A down payment of $391,000 will be made toward project costs and the remaining balance of $7.8 million will be financed through bond anticipation notes, TAP Into Millburn/Short Hills reported.

When complete, the redesign of the downtown area will mean safer pedestrian conditions, improved traffic flow in congested areas, calmer traffic at other areas and improved “efficiency, functionality and vibrancy in downtown Millburn,” township officials state on the municipal website.

Construction on the first phase of Complete Streets improvements will take place around July of 2016, according to township officials.
