For the second time in as many days, the Millburn High School Girl's Volleyball team suffered a tough three set loss, this time the to visiting Newark Tech High School on Thursday.
On the heels of a defeat at Solomon Schecter on Wednesday, the team hoped to snap a two match losing streak. The visitors, having defeated Millburn earlier in the season opener, jumped out to an early 7-4 lead on the Lady Millers.
Eventually, a service ace from Senior captain Nicole Weissman knotted the score at 10. The teams exchanged the lead several times before Senior captain Kerry Justich pulled the Millers ahead on the strength of three service points at 19-16. From there Millburn was able to close out the set with the help of three service aces from Sunisha Sanju, 25-17.

The second set started poorly for Millburn as they quickly fell behind 7-2 before Justich's serves again pulled the Millers to within two at 7-5. A kill by Freshman Lily Jacobs knotted the score at 8 all but the Millers could not break through again in the set falling behind 16-10 and never getting within three points before losing the secoind set 25-20, despite multiple service winners and aces from Jacobs and Weissman along the way.
In the decding set the Millers jumped out to an early 11-7 lead, but the visitors stormed back, knotting the game at 12, then taking an 18-15 lead. Millburn battled back to tie the match at 21 all but Newark Tech then rattled off the next three points to take a 24-21 lead.

Again the Lady Millers fought their way back to tie the set at 24 all with a kill from Justich. A subsequent out of bounds smash by Justich gave the visitors a 25-24 lead. With the match on the line, Newark Tech served out the set and won the match two sets to one.
