MILLBURN, NJ — Concerns are rising daily about the new, deadly coronavirus that has so far killed 490 people in China (according to a report early Wednesday morning in the New York Times). Sixty-five people died on Tuesday alone, the Times reported, citing Chinese officials.

In New Jersey, students at Princeton University who had recently visited mainland China were told to "self-isolate."

And last week, the Westfield Health Department sent out an advisory about how to protect oneself from the novel or Wuhan version of the virus. While the nearby Millburn Health Department has not sent out the same, they recently added a link on their webpage that brings up a state document about the NJ Novel Coronavirus NJDOH (PDF). The link is found after links to SARS and ebola.

The new document says, in part, "Novel (meaning 'new') coronavirus is a virus strain that has only spread in people since December 2019. Health experts are concerned because little is known about this new virus and it has the potential to cause severe illness in some people."

The document then goes into more detail and gives tips to protect oneself.

This past Friday, the state released another document, for local health departments, here. And CDC information about the virus is here.
