Millburn Man Arrested with Two Pounds of Marijuana
Federal postal inspectors intercept package with pot inside, Cops conduct sting

Undercover officers from the Essex County Sheriff’s Bureau of Narcotics arrested Daniel Shirin, 21, of Millburn, at his Greenbrook Drive home for the possession of two pounds of marijuana on Wednesday, March 4.
According to the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, the operation was conducted at noon in conjunction with federal postal inspectors, and involved the “controlled delivery” of a postal package addressed to Shirin. Undercover officers from the Narcotics Bureau made the delivery of the package, and executed a search warrant on its receipt.
Authorities stated that they found three glass pipes, a grinder, a digital scale and other narcotics paraphernalia upon a search of Shirin’s bedroom.

Shirin was charged with possession of CDS, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of South Mountain School, possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of Taylor Park and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
The arrest was the “result of active and on-going investigations that are being conducted independently by our Bureau of Narcotics and in conjunction with the United States Postal Service and other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies,” Essex County Sheriff Armando B. Fontoura stated in a release.
