Millburn Teen Uses Red Cross Skills to Save Life
Ben Inglese is a trained lifeguard and pulled a drowning boy out of a pool.

The Millburn-Short Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Millburn Township Committee recently honored Ben for using the skills he learned at the Red Cross to save a boy who was drowning. He was issued the American Red Cross Certificate of Merit.

While on vacation in December, he noticed a child go down an inglatable slide into the deep water, and the boy started panicking and drowning. Ben, who is trained in Red Cross CPR/AED for Lifeguards and Lifeguarding/First Aid, noticed the boy go under and swam over to rescue him. He pulled the boy out and brought him to his grandmother.
"Without a doubt, the skills learned in the American Red Cross Health and Safety Services course and used by Ben Inglese contributed to saving the child's life," the citation states.
