MMS Auditorium Finally will be Renovated
After years of needing repairs, the auditorium will soon be refurbished.
Seats are falling apart, paint is peeling, birds have been known to fly in the rafters.
But now, after years of pushing by the MMS PTO members and recent school board member Regina Truitt, the Millburn Middle School auditorium is getting a much-needed facelift.
The school board approved transferring $1.4 million from the capital reserves to pay for work on the auditorium as well as the high school bleachers, which are also in need of repair.

“It’s been such a long time coming,” she said recently. “It’s such a beautiful auditorium but it’s in such terrible shape. I’m so glad we’re taking care of it and we’re going to retain those beautiful architectural touches that make it unique.”
The board has also retained Parette Somjen Architects LLC of Rockaway, NJ to prepare plans and specifications for public bidding of the Auditorium Renovations at Millburn Middle School and the renovations of the athletic field bleachers at the Millburn High School.
Work will begin toward the end of the school year and through the summer. meanwhile, MMS will present the last show this weekend in the auditorium.
