NJ Transit Experiences Delays Due to Power Problem

Train riders from Millburn-Short Hills to New York found their trip diverted Tuesday morning.

NJ Transit suspended service to Penn Station for about a hour because of an Amtrak power problem. Midtown Direct trains, which serve Millburn-Short Hills trains on the Morris & Essex line, were diverted to Hoboken.

By about 10:15 a.m., NJ Transit stopped diverting Midtown Direct trains, and service to New York Penn Station was restored by about 9 a.m. There were residual delays, but at about 10:45 a.m. all trains were on or close to schedule.

NJ Transit was cross-honoring tickets systemwide including PATH between Hoboken and Newark and 33rd Street and buses.

NJ Transit serves Millburn-Short Hills with two train stations on the Morris & Essex line. It has trains to Hoboken and on the Midtown Direct to Penn Station.
