“A high ranking indicates that teachers are intelligent and engaging, the school is invested in its teachers, and students and parents rate their teachers favorably,” Niche.com states on their website.
The Niche.com ranking wasn’t the only positive list that Millburn schools have been included on lately. Recently, the Washington Post ranked the district’s high schools among the nation’s “Most Challenging.” [See related article here]
HERE’S WHAT STUDENTS HAD TO SAY
As part of the report, Niche.com published feedback from students at the school (which counted for 30 percent of the ranking’s weight):
- “Teachers are very fair. It’s difficult to realize this while you are a teenager.”
- “The school is pretty clear on what is allowed and what is not. Teachers are always keeping an eye out for bullying and cheating, and the repercussions for such actions are well communicated.”
- “Teachers are great in this school. They try to be approachable and are understanding. They try to engage the class often trying new techniques. The only down side is that there is sometimes a lack of communication between the different teachers all over the school. This sometimes causes clashes in due dates, as in a lot of work will be due on the same day for different classes.”
- “The teachers, overall, are very good, with a few exceptions. Their styles vary, but most are knowledgeable and willing to work with students during non-school hours, and many are passionate in their subjects. They are usually fair graders.”
