Summit Medical Group Withdraws Application

Summit Medical Group has withdrawn its application to construct a medical office building in Short Hills, but it plans to submit a new plan.

Zoning Board of Adjustment Chairman Joseph Steinberg announced the intention to withdraw the application during Monday's meeting. Summit Medical Group already had one hearing on its application and was scheduled to have a second on Oct. 4. There was opposition at the first hearing in August.

The original proposal for the corner of Chatham Road and Woodland Road required seven variances, including parking, floor area ratio, height, setbacks, parking and slope disturbance.

The original proposal was for a 62,908 square-foot, 46.1-feet-high building with two floors of medical offices and two floors of interior parking, according to the plans and application filed at Town Hall. It would replace the current three buildings at the site, including a gas station, a professional office building and a medical office building. The gas station is not in use.
