Survey Asks What's the Best Day for the Farmers Market
Downtown Millburn wants to know when people want the township's market to be held, including Sundays.

Do you have an opinion on the farmers market? Think it should be at a different time? Offer different vendors?
Now you have a chance to offer your opinion on the Millburn Farmers Market in a survey from Downtown Millburn. The survey is available on the Downtown Millburn website (and at right) in pdf format.
The questions range from what day of the week people want the farmers market to be held to if people would attend it if it was held on Sundays and what types of vendors people want at the market.

The Millburn Farmers Market currently is held on Tuesdays at 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in June through October.
Both John Buchholz, Downtown Millburn president, and Helen Kyle, Downtown Millburn assistant director and market manager, said the survey is the first step in planning after several people have questioned why the market isn't held on another day or another time. Those people include Township Committee members, they said.

"People always ask why we hold it on Tuesdays," Buchholz said. "They'll say it doesn't serve them best because they work from 8-7 and are on the train. They can't use the market."
People will say they want the market to be held on the weekend, including Sundays, he said. The Summit Farmers Market is held on Sundays.
Kyle said she's heard similar comments from people that they can't get to the market on Tuesdays. But discussions haven't gotten far enough to say the market would be moved to another day or time, she said. Right now the survey is only to gauge if there's interest.
The question about the vendors is if the market moves to Sundays, Kyle said. On a Sunday the market would have more space in the parking lot so more vendors could be added, she said.
The survey has been available at the market, but Kyle said that only targets people who can make it on Tuesdays. She's trying to get a more broad response from people about their thoughts on the market.
The survey can be mailed to 350 Millburn Ave., Millburn, NJ 07041.
