Montclair FD: Aid came from units in East Orange, Orange, Bloomfield, Clifton, West Orange, Caldwell, Cedar Grove and Belleville.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A pair of Montclair firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling a house fire on Llewellyn Road early Tuesday morning, authorities said.
According to the Montclair Fire Department, several nearby agencies lent a hand during the incident, including peers from East Orange, Orange, Bloomfield, Clifton and West Orange who helped bring the fire under control, and units from Caldwell, Cedar Grove and Belleville which covered the township.
The fire – which was caused by an “electrical wiring malfunction” – resulted in heavy fire damage to the third floor, as well as smoke and water damage to the basement, first and second floors, the Montclair Fire Department stated.

The residents of the home were awakened by the smell of smoke and evacuated prior to emergency responders’ arrival. There were no reported civilian injuries, authorities said.
When firefighters arrived on the scene at 12:41 a.m., they found flames venting out the third-floor side windows of the home. “Substantial overhaul was necessary to ensure fire was extinguished in all walls and voids,” Deputy Chief Robert Duncan stated.
