Burglaries Continue In Montclair; 8 Reported In 2 Weeks

Several Montclair homeowners have reported burglaries and burglary attempts over the past weeks, police say.

MONTCLAIR, NJ —According to the Montclair Police Department, the township saw several instances of burglary and attempted burglary at homes over the past weeks.

In April, Montclair police warned residents that home burglaries were on the rise in the southwest part of town. In many of those incidents, the point of entry was an unsecured window or door, Montclair officials said.

The following incidents recently took place in Montclair, according to police:

5-2-2017 - (Bloomfield Avenue) Burglary to a vacant storefront, currently under construction. Multiple power tools were stolen. The suspect is described as an African-American male, 30 to 30-years-old, wearing a blue t-shirt.

5-3-2017 - Ronald Lomack, 54, of Montclair, was arrested and charged with a burglary to Mt. Carmel Church (Pine Street) and an attempted burglary to Faraj Enterprise (Bloomfield Avenue) which occurred on 5-3-2017.

5-3-2017 - (Cloverhill Place) Burglary to a basement apartment. Access was gained by breaking a glass pane in a rear door. Cash was taken in this incident.

5-4-2017 - (Roberto’s Pizza, Lackawanna Plaza) Burglary to a commercial establishment. Access was gained by climbing over the security gate. Cash was taken in this incident. The suspect is described as wearing a gray sweatshirt with a hood covering the head and white gloves.

5-6-2017 - (Alden Road) Burglary to a residence. Access was gained through an open basement window. A purse was taken in this incident.

5-10-2017 - (Ward Place) Burglary to an apartment. Cash and jewelry was taken in this incident. There were no signs of forced entry.

5-12-2017 - (Nishuane Road) Attempted burglary to a residence currently under renovation. Two window screens were damaged in an attempt to gain entry.

5-15-2017 - (Cloverhill Place) Burglary to a residence under construction. A washer and dryer were stolen in this incident.
