Montclair Home Damaged After Kitchen Sink Was Plugged Up: Police

Someone entered the property, plugged the kitchen sink and turned the water on, Montclair police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Someone caused significant damage at a Montclair home on North Mountain Avenue last week when they entered the property, plugged the kitchen sink and turned the water on, authorities said.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the incident was reported on Feb. 7. Police released the following details on Tuesday:

“The resident reported that when he arrived at his property, he discovered an unknown person(s) had entered his home and caused significant damage. Entry appears to have been made through an unlocked basement door. Once inside, the suspect plugged the kitchen sink and turned the water all the way on.”

Damage to the home included a warped kitchen floor, a collapsed basement ceiling and several inches of water in the basement, police said.
