Montclair OEM Lifts Storm 'State Of Emergency' After 13 Days
Montclair town officials declared a "state of emergency" due to a winter storm almost 2 weeks ago.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Almost two weeks after declaring a “state of emergency” due to a winter storm, Montclair town officials lifted the alert status on Monday morning.
The Montclair Office of Emergency Management originally declared a state of emergency on Tuesday, March 6, a day before a nor’easter wreaked havoc on the area. Their notice read:
“Due to the impending snow storm, the Montclair Office of Emergency Management has declared a state of emergency, effective midnight tonight. The declaration was made to support snow removal and see to any emergencies caused by snow and high winds.”

On Monday, a municipal spokesperson told Patch about the reason for the lengthy state of emergency status:

“The state of emergency was needed to allow for cleanup and ensure safety in the streets. Montclair had many downed trees and branches.”
