Montclair Police Apprehend Suspected Home Burglar
There have been at least four home burglaries during the past two weeks, Montclair police say.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair police have apprehended a Newark man wanted for allegedly burglarizing a Buckingham Road home earlier this month. There have been at least three other home burglaries in the township during the past two weeks, authorities say.
According to the Montclair Police Department, officers arrested Anthony Harper, 27, on Nov. 24 on Bloomfield Avenue. Harper was wanted on an open warrant for burglary.
After conducting an investigation, police charged Harper in connection with a Nov. 17 home burglary that took place on Buckingham Road.

In addition to the Nov. 17 burglary on Buckingham Road, there have been at least three other home burglaries in the township over the past two weeks, Montclair police say.
According to the MPD, the following incidents were reported:
- Nov. 16 (Macopin Ave.) - Burglary to a residence. Entry was gained via unlocked rear door. A purse, wallet, cellphone and cash were taken in this incident.
- Nov. 16 (Windsor Pl.) - Burglary to a residence and vehicle. Entry was gained via unlocked doors. A wallet and cash were taken during this incident.
- Nov. 25 (Upper Mountain Avenue) - Burglary to a residence. Camera equipment was taken in this incident. Entry was made through an unlocked rear door.
In April, Montclair police announced that the township saw a rise in burglaries during the previous months, with many incidents involving unsecured windows or doors.

Police offered the following tips for local homeowners:
- Lock your doors and windows as a matter of good practice, especially at night and when you are away from your home.
- Do not leave items of value on tables and shelves in view from your windows.
- Lock your vehicle whenever you are not in it.
- Do not leave items of value in your vehicle unattended and when your vehicle is unlocked.
- Try not to leave your vehicle running with the keys or fob inside the vehicle.
- Be aware of your surroundings, particularly when arriving at any location, including home.
