ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — NJ Transit suspended train service on the Montclair-Boonton Line in both directions between Montclair State University and Newark Broad Street on Thursday. The suspension took place because of a downed tree in the overhead wires near Glen Ridge, authorities said.

Commuters should plan for alternate means of travel, the Glen Ridge Police Department stated in a Nixle alert at 12:42 p.m.

Rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored by NJ Transit bus, private carriers and PATH trains at Hoboken Terminal and 33rd ST-NY.

NJ Transit tweeted a photo of the downed tree, which can be seen hanging precariously on top of wires above the tracks.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, PATH service between Hoboken and New York City has resumed after a man was hit by a train in Hoboken station Thursday morning.

A spokesperson for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said a man jumped onto Track 3 in Hoboken around 8:51 a.m. The train "was pulled into the station" to allow workers to remove the man from under the train, and the man was taken to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment soon after.
