'As Seen On TV' Guru Returns To Montclair State For Annual Student Competition
TeleBrands President and CEO AJ Khubani graduated from MSU more than 30 years ago.

Montclair, NJ – More than 30 years after graduating from Montclair State University, TeleBrands President and CEO AJ Khubani returned to his alma mater to facilitate a $10,000 competition for local college students earlier this month.
Khubani, known for founding the multi-billion “As Seen on TV” company, used TeleBrands to underwrite the competition among 16 teams of students who were challenged to “pitch an innovative product or service” to a panel of judges.
Television pitchman Anthony “Sully” Sullivan served as the master of ceremonies for the May 4 event, which was held at Montclair State’s University Hall Conference Center.

Each team received $1,500 to use in conceptualizing their product, creating a website, speaking with a patent lawyer, and other viable next steps, university officials stated.
The MSU TeleBrands Inventors Day for Aspiring Entrepreneurs is modeled on the real-world Inventors Days TeleBrands has hosted around the country for years, in which at-home inventors pitch consumer products to Khubani in hopes of obtaining a marketing and manufacturing contract with the company, school officials stated.

“We want to create a platform to stimulate ideas and creativity, two essential ingredients for success in today’s competitive business world,” Khubani said. “For the past three years, participating students in this program have given dedicated time and effort into developing products and learning every step in the process from design to manufacturing, distribution and marketing. I am excited to help facilitate this experience, particularly at my alma mater where I received such valuable training.”
