Two New Deans Appointed at Montclair State University
Deans appointed to head up the School of Business and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences; will begin working on July 1.

Montclair State University has appointed two new deans who will begin working on campus this summer.
On July 1, Dr. A. Gregory Cant will become the School of Business dean and Dr. Robert S. Friedman will begin serving as dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, according to an announcement posted on the school’s website.
Cant received his PhD from the University of Western Australia and his master’s degree from Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada. He is the founding dean of the Offutt School of Business and Robert J. Johnson Chair in Economics and Business Administration at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.

“Greg Cant has the bold academic vision, substantial leadership experience and broad global perspective to spearhead the School of Business’ growth and national and international recognition,” Montclair State University President Susan A. Cole said in a prepared statement posted on the school’s website.
Friedman, who is the director of the Institute of Technology at the Tacoma campus of the University of Washington, previously held positions at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT.) He received a PhD from the City University of New York’s Graduate Center and a master’s degree from NJIT.

“Rob is an accomplished scholar, an able administrator and an innovative leader who will advance the College of Humanities and Social Sciences’ core commitment to providing an outstanding liberal arts education with focused preparation in a wide range of disciplines and professional areas,” Cole said in the prepared statement.
