Vigil In Montclair Will Remember Hiroshima, Nagasaki Bombings
The U.S. detonated two atomic bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 – the only time nuclear weapons have been used in armed conflict.
MONTCLAIR, NJ -- A vigil in Montclair on Friday will commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.
According to New Jersey Peace Action, the vigil will take place from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Bloomfield Avenue between Church Street and South Fullerton Avenue. Learn more here.
During World War II, the United States detonated two atomic bombs over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on Aug. 6 and 9 in 1945. Hundreds of thousands of people, many of them civilians, died in the bombings or from related health problems. It remains the only use of nuclear weapons in armed conflict in world history.
