Comedian Rich Vos to Spend 'Weekend in Pine Brook'

The Comedy Shoppe to host performances Friday and Saturday nights.

Known for his fan-friendly attitude and dry, sometimes sarcastic delivery, comedian Rich Vos is set to perform Friday and Saturday at The Comedy Shoppe at Suppa's Restaurant in Pine Brook.

"Do I look forward to this?" Vos said. "I look forward to playing golf at Bethpage and I look forward to my new DVD coming out from Comedy Central. It's a gig. It's a weekend in Pine Brook."

Vos, who has performed at the Comedy Shoppe before, said that he enjoyed his last appearance in town.

"We had a nice time," he said, "and the food was really good."

Vos is known for his work on the Opie and Anthony radio show, to which he occasionally contributes. Vos has appeared on numerous television shows, including "Last Comic Standing," "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn" and "American Dreams." Vos was also the only white comedian to perform on "Def Comedy Jam," a distinction that he doesn't play up.

"That was 15 years ago," he said.

Vos spends much of his time on the road, performing stand-up across the country.

"When you go to different parts of the country, audiences do have different feels," he said. "Some crowds are more conservative and you can only get away with so much there, while others are more liberal and you can get away with much there."

Vos said that his comedic style is born of both experience and improvisation.

"A lot of the jokes I do, I do off the top of my head," he said. "Someone who is 21 year old comedian is still learning the world, but with experience, I've been able to read the crowd."

Suppa's Restaurant is home to The Comedy Shoppe, the hobby of two comedy producers, JJCOMEDY.com, who book headliner comics at the Montville area restaurant one to two weekends each month.

Vos will perform this Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m. Admission is $20. Tickets and information can be found at the Comedy Shoppe's website or by calling 886-552-6633.
