Elementary School Builds Character at County School Board
Cedar Hill is NJ School of Character.
Six members of Cedar Hill Elementary School’s Character Education Committee made a presentation to the Morris County School Board Association on April 30, 2104.
The Montville Township Public School students, known as Character Representatives, are fifth-graders. The representatives have led the student body in character development all year through Cedar Hill’s award-winning Connect with Respect initiative. The students spoke to the Morris County School Board Association about their experiences and the projects they have launched this year as leaders of Cedar Hill’s Character Education Committee.
“The mission of Cedar Hill School’s Character Education program, Connect with Respect, is to foster the value of respecting self, others, property and community,” said School Counselor, Heather Praml.

Praml, along with kindergarten teacher, Cathy Lundquist, is also an adviser for the Character Education Committee.
The school’s Character Representatives initiate projects of character for the student population to support. This year, the committee partnered with Pagus, Inc., a not for profit organization involved in providing education in impoverished areas of Ghana. The committee also raised funds to help a pay the medical bills of a seven-year-old child from Garfield, NJ. The students became aware of the child’s needs through Cedar Hill Student Council’s annual Jaycee’s Angels Giving Tree.
