Montville Police Officer Found Not Guilty Of On-Duty DWI: Reports
The officer now faces a potential internal review over whether he was drunk on duty or not, according to reports.
MONTVILLE, NJ— A Montville police officer has been found not guilty of drunk driving while on the job, according to media reports.
Police Officer Kurt Geisinger was charged with driving while intoxicated while operating an unmarked patrol vehicle while on duty last October, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
Geisinger had been drinking in the police department parking lot, but witnesses at a hearing did not report seeing him driving, TapInto reported. The hearing was held in Morris Plains to avoid a conflict of interest.

"The state has a broad definition of driving while intoxicated, but the state has the burden to demonstrate intent to operate a motor vehicle,” TapInto reported Judge Michael Carlucci as saying.
Geisinger was suspended with pay pending the outcome of the trial, and now faces an internal review over suspected intoxication while on duty, the Daily Record reported.
