CERT Recognition, Domestic Violence Proclamation: Five Things From Moorestown Council Meeting
Council also passed an ordinance to expand the drug-free zones in the township.

Did you miss Monday night’s council meeting? Here are five things that happened at the meeting that you might find of interest.
- Council gave final approval to an ordinance that expands the drug free zone in the township beyond schools. Drug-free zone designations were previously reserved for schools. The ordinance was passed with a unanimous 5-0 vote, with minor changes that didn’t necessitate readvertisement. To view the resolution, click here.
- Council recognized the six members of the Community Emergency Response Team who went to Camden to assist Camden County law enforcement during Pope Francis’s visit to the region last week. They were also prepared in case Hurricane Joaquin hit New Jersey last week. Those recognized included Andrew Walko, Lisa Walko, Sandy McLaughlin, Michelle Jackson, Jack Gordon and Ed Fay.
- In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, council recognized Melissa Young for organizing the inaugural Pub Crawl at the Moorestown Mall in April. Proceeds benefitted the Providence House Domestic Violence Services. Another Pub Crawl will take place this April, Young said.
- Council approved applications for grants for three road projects, including various improvements on Borton’s Landing Road, West Camden Avenue Streetscape Improvements and West Camden Avenue Bikeway improvements.
- Council approved a $9,377.49 payment to Capehart Scatchard for consulting services related to the implementation of a housing plan. Funds come from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund.
