Coronavirus May Result In Moorestown Community House Closure
The Community House may see hundreds of thousands of dollars in losses and faces possible closure. A fundraiser has been launched.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — The outbreak of new coronavirus has taken a massive toll on the Moorestown Community House, resulting in a projected loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars and the possible permanent closure of the township institution. It is now seeking help from residents in order to survive.
“As a gathering place, we are being greatly impacted by this pandemic and might not survive it,” Caryn Lynch said in a social media post on behalf of the Community House. “We are closed indefinitely and are experiencing a perfect storm: lost rental income, cancelled major fundraisers (our Annual Wine Tasting and Golf Outing), and few people planning future events. We’ve had more than 100 event cancellations with no end in sight.”

The Community House is not part of the township, and receives no government funding. It operates strictly on donations and venue rental income.
“We are asking for your help today not for a special project, but to literally keep the doors open, the lights on, and to ensure that the Community House endures as the heart of Moorestown,” Lynch said. “We are looking forward to the day that we can welcome everyone back into our House. If you are able to help, we need it! With support from all of us, we can make it through this dark time; no donation is too small. Can you be there for us to help ensure our House’s survival?”
