CTS Kids Learn to Fish with Berkeley Striper Club

Children from Community Treatment Solutions were treated to a day of fishing education in Seaside Park

Youth from Community Treatment Solutions’ group homes were treated to a great day of fishing by the Berkeley Striper Club in Seaside Park, New Jersey. In existence for almost 50 years, the Berkeley Striper Club is one of the largest and most active surf-fishing clubs in the state. The club’s objective is to promote and protect recreational fishing interests, while safeguarding our natural resources. Members of the club served lunch to the CTS children, then rotated stations teaching casting lessons in the field, hands-on knot tying, environmental education, and fishing and fish handling safety. After the instruction, the group headed out to the beach to put everything they learned into practice. The kids left with goody bags that included t-shirts, books, games and fishing gear. Club members were presented with CTS t-shirts as a thank you. Thanks again to Berkeley Striper Club for providing a fantastic day that this group of CTS kids will not soon forget!
