'Coolers' at Perkins, Collingswood

takes place in May of 1926 in Collingswood, New Jersey. A hastily assembled company of vaudeville performers have arrived at the Elite Theatre to try out their material for a new “review” that is slated to open in New York in two weeks. Many of the performers have known each other for years in the circuits of vaudeville, and more than a few rivalries exist, but the arrival of a pretty young woman throws the company in chaos, especially when it revealed that she has no talent for performing and the show will only be financed if she remains in the show. Realizing their careers hang in the balance, each entertainer is determined to make the “Fabulous Follies of 1926” work and move it into the “big time.” Through a combination of comedy skits, classic music and authentic dialogue, Coolers is a valentine to the days of vaudeville and to the entertainers who kept all of America singing and laughing into a new century.
