Program will include:
Praeludium in G minor ~ Dietrich Buxtehude
Sonata II in C minor ~ Felix Mendelssohn

Organ recitals last 30 minutes and are followed by a delicious homemade soup luncheon in the Parish Hall. Both the recital and the luncheon are free and open to the public. A free-will offering is gratefully accepted.

Kevin J. O'Malia, a native of northeastern Pennsylvania, holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in church music, with honors, from Westminster Choir College, the school of music of Rider University. His concentrations of study were in organ, choral conducting and church music history; principal teachers were Mark Laubach, Mark Anderson, Diane Belcher and Tom Whittemore. Mr. O'Malia is the Director of Music at First United Methodist Church of Germantown (FUMCOG) in northwest Philadelphia. In this capacity, he oversees the choral program, boasting a mixed adult chancel choir and a children's choir, accompanies Sunday services, and manages a concert series with monthly musical offerings from within the church and from visiting ensembles.

 

In addition to his duties at FUMCOG, Kevin serves as organist at Temple B'nai Shalom in East Brunswick, NJ, holds a private piano and organ studio, and concertizes frequently. A long-time affiliate of RSCMA (the Royal School of Church Music in America), Mr. O'Malia uses its curriculum Voice for Life with the FUMCOG Children's Choir, and has served as course organist at the Princeton, Charlotte and Wilkes-Barre courses. Kevin has concertized in the United States, Great Britain and France. He has also appeared on National Public Radio production Pipedreams.
