MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — A former camp counselor and YMCA employee had images and videos containing child pornography, authorities said.

Robert Nault, 23, of Mount Laurel, was charged with third-degree possession of child sexual abuse material. He was arrested Wednesday and released after his initial court appearance.

Nault formerly worked at a summer camp and an after-school childcare program that were both managed by YMCA of the Pines, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office (BCPO).

He has not been accused of inappropriate physical contact with children, the BCPO said.

Nault worked for the Medford-based YMCA of the Pines as a day-camp counselor last summer, according to a statement from YMCA of the Pines. He then worked after-school sessions in the organization's Schools Out childcare program from last fall through this spring.

The School's Out Program provides before- and after-school care for several schools in the Medford, Medford Lakes, Shamong and Tabernacle districts, according to the YMCA of the Pines website.

"We were deeply saddened and disturbed to recently learn of the arrest of a former staff member, charged with endangering the welfare of a minor," said Mark Dibble, CEO of YMCA of the Pines. "Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected by his actions. At this time, there is no indication that any YMCA youth were involved in this incident. However, we will continue to work with authorities in any way that they see fit."

All of the former employee's background checks came back clean, and there were no complaints against Nault during his tenure, Dibble said.

The investigation into Nault began after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children alerted the BCPO about his alleged online activities. Investigators found that Nault accessed links to images and videos containing child pornography and downloaded files to an online storage system he maintained, the BCPO said.

Nault was arrested Wednesday morning as authorities executed a search warrant at his home. The BCPO's High-Tech Crimes Unit will examine the electronic devices seized from his home.

Prosecutors plan to present the case to a grand jury for possible indictment.
