Garden State Chorale Spring Concert May 9
This year's program, "American Tapestry," takes concert goers on a journey through the history of exclusively American music.

On Saturday May 9, the Garden State Chorale will present its annual spring pops concert.
Now in its 84th year, the Chorale includes singers from throughout South Jersey under the direction of Robert Frederick. It rehearses each week at the Mooretown Community House.

Selections will highlight various American genres from spiritual gospel to fiddle, from ragtime to jazz, from “big band” swing to rock-and-roll, as well as some classic and modern patriotic anthems.
The concert will also feature medleys showcasing the work of legendary American composers like Stephen Foster, George & Ira Gershwin, and Johnny Mercer.

Afternoon and evening performances will take place at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church at 327 Marlton Pike (Route 70) in Cherry Hill, located just adjacent to Ponzio’s Diner.
Proceeds from the concert help fund the Chorale’s annual scholarship program, which awards $2,500 to a South Jersey high school senior pursuing a college education in vocal music studies.
The 2015 scholarship recipient will also perform during the concert.
Tickets are available at advanced-sale donation prices of $12 adults, $9 seniors, and $6 students.
