Local Lockheed Martin Employees Receive Prestigious Award

Twenty-one employees from the Lockheed Martin facility in Moorestown, New Jersey, received the company's highest honor, the NOVA Award.

In a ceremony at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C., Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] presented its prestigious NOVA Award to 21 employees from its Mission Systems and Training (MST) facility in Moorestown, New Jersey.

The NOVA Award is the company’s highest honor, presented annually to individuals and teams who have made outstanding contributions to the corporation’s mission and business objectives.

The annual NOVA Awards ceremony was hosted by Lockheed Martin Chairman, President and CEO Marillyn Hewson on Saturday, Oct. 25, to recognize employees for their outstanding achievements.

The Second Generation Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense At-Sea Test team, which received an award for its successful completion of an unprecedented five at-sea missions in eight months, going four for four on intercept missions and one for one in ballistic missile defense system support tests. Moorestown-based honorees are:

The USS Freedom Deployment Support team won an award for showing its commitment, urgency and outstanding performance in successfully achieving the first littoral combat ship overseas deployment. Moorestown-based honorees are:

• Michael Joseph LaMorte
• Sandra R. Ogbin
• John Verillo

The Integrated Air and Missile Defense Attack Operations Project team was recognized for its research and development effort across the corporation to analyze and explore operations scenarios by manipulating the availability of various resources. Moorestown-based honorees are:
• Janet M. Barbera
• Stephen W. Van Dyke

“The NOVA Award recipients are extraordinary men and women who have brought innovative solutions to our customers, strengthened our business and modeled our values,” said Hewson. “Their achievements are a source of pride and inspiration to the 113,000 men and women of Lockheed Martin.”

The Lockheed Martin NOVA Awards were created in 1995. The name “NOVA” aptly describes the contributions of the winners as the bright stars of the corporation.
