Man Charged In GoFundMe Scheme Faces Jail Time On Warrants

Mark D'Amico may spend up to 30 days in jail on warrants, according to published reports.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ – A South Jersey man who has been charged in connection with an alleged $400,000 GoFundMe scam may face additional jail time on unrelated warrants.

Mark D’Amico faces up to 30 days in prison for driving on a suspended license three times from March 2017 to May 2018, according to6 ABC and NBC 10.

D’Amico was arrested on warrants in September during a traffic stop in Florence Township. He was arrested in the midst of a criminal investigation into himself and his ex-girlfriend Kate McClure related to a GoFundMe account that was started for the benefit of homeless vet Johnny Bobbitt Jr.

Since then, all three were charged with conspiracy and theft by deception in the online fundraiser that raised more than $400,000 for Bobbitt. McClure and D'Amico previously surrendered in New Jersey, and are scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 24.

Bobbitt made his first appearance last week, and was released, pending trial. McClure's attorney James Gerrow claimed she was duped by D'Amico, and released an audio recording McClure had secretly made of an argument between the two. Gerrow described their relationship as “controlling and abusive.”
