MFS Students Place Third At Rutgers Oncology Competition
A team from Moorestown Friends School took third place overall out of 23 teams at the third annual Rutgers Oncology Olympiad on April 6.

MOORESTOWN, NJ - A team from Moorestown Friends School took third place overall out of 23 teams at the third annual Rutgers Oncology Olympiad on April 6, the school announced.
The team, composed of juniors Hannah Jin (Cherry Hill) and Jalen Patel (Allentown) and sophomores Bobby Lodge (Voorhees), Kayla Patel (Mount Laurel), and Om Patil (Mount Laurel), earned gold in the “Cancer Knowledge” event.
The students were all from the Upper School, and they were joined by Science and Engineering Department Chair Drew Newman. It was the second year Moorestown Friends participated in the event.

Oncology is a branch of medicine that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer. Rutgers’ Oncology Olympiad is described by the university as “a regional academic high school competition that invites students with an interest in biomedical sciences and related fields to showcase their knowledge in oncology.”
Students take an individual qualifying test (90 minutes; multiple choice) in January, and those with qualifying scores receive invitations to the competition.
