To the Editor:
It is with pleasure that I endorse Caty Berman for a position on the Moorestown Board of Education. I have known Caty for over ten years, working with her as a volunteer in my kindergarten classroom and most recently as a valuable community volunteer. Her special education background was obvious as she adeptly assumed an appropriate and supportive role in our classroom.
I have continued working with Caty since my retirement 6 years ago when I became the coordinator of a local food pantry. For several years, Caty organized the monthly food donations from South Valley for the District’s Food for All Friday program. She also established and organized South Valley’s No Food Left Behind program where leftover school lunch items were delivered to our pantry each week. Additionally, Caty worked to get approval for the donation and personally delivered end-of-the-year food items from South Valley, WAMS, the UES, and Roberts School. All of these donations continue to keep our pantry well-stocked to serve patrons from a wide area.
Caty continues to pour her heart and energy into serving children and families in need through LUCY (Lifting Up Camden Youth) Outreach. The outreach provides support to kids 7-19, college and career prep for alumni to age 28, and support to families in need. Caty is working to establish a food pantry there and has helped achieve affiliation with the South Jersey Food Bank.
Caty has proven that she is passionate about the education and wellness of our school-age population. She is focused, intelligent, hard working, and she tackles issues with an objective, analytical approach. I hope you will join me in voting for Caty Berman to serve on the Moorestown Board of Education.
