Moorestown Friends Adds Community Service To Annual Camp Fair

The largest camp fair in South Jersey is set for Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown Friends School is adding community service activities to its annual Camp Fair, set for this weekend at the school’s Baiada Field House. The largest camp fair in South Jersey is set for Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. It features more than 50 camps that will visit the school to highlight their programs.

For the first time this year, students, faculty, staff and parents will participate in projects that will benefit local organizations, including Lutheran Crossings and Ronald McDonald House.

Participants will learn about environmental stewardship and mental health awareness.They will also have the chance to sign up for the upcoming American Red Cross Blood Drive on Feb. 20 and Moorestown CROP Hunger Walk on April 19. Both events will take place on the Moorestown Friends School campus.

A wide variety of summer camps will be represented at the camp fair, including day and residential camps for students in preschool through high school. There will be camps that specialize in sports, science, technology, ecology, special needs, theater, arts, travel, academics, roller coasters, and more. Examples of new camps exhibiting this year include:

  • Storytellers@Rowan, which offers hands-on-experience in producing radio, television, film, sports media, e-broadcasting, news, creative writing, advertising, and art;
  • Sail Caribbean, through which students learn sailing, racing, and seamanship and earn service hours while living aboard 50-foot yachts and cruising the British Virgin and Leeward Islands; and
  • Easterseals Camp Merryheart, a fully accessible camp offering year-round programs that encourage inclusion and promote personal growth and accomplishment.

Some programs will also offer international travel. Where There Be Dragons features Summer Abroad, Gap Year, and College Study Abroad programs facilitating authentic cultural immersion in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

Global Works runs a service-based program with international trips to Central and South America, Europe, China, Africa, and the South Pacific. Other travel camps attending includePutney Student Travel,Rustic Pathways, and Global Leaders ChinaQuest.

Of course, Moorestown Friends School Summer Programs will also be represented at the Camp Fair, The programs provide opportunities for children to innovate, create, experiment, and collaborate with others.

Summer Programs courses are available to students from ages 3-15, and many programs are led by Moorestown Friends School teachers. All programs take full advantage of the 48-acre Moorestown Friends School campus: classroom, labs, athletic fields, four gymnasiums, and an outdoor pool.

Moorestown Friends School is located at 110 East Main Street. Parking for the Camp Fair is in the parking lot behind the school, and the entrance to the Baiada Field House is near the tennis courts.
