Moorestown Rotary Breakfast Club Holds Backpack Stuffing Event for the Needy in August

Moorestown, NJ -- The Moorestown Rotary Breakfast Club’s annual backpack stuffing drive will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 7 p.m. at the Moorestown Community House.

The club is expecting to fill about 160 backpacks with about $7,000 in school supplies, from folders to pencils, for Moorestown students in need in grades K-12.

Every member of the Rotary Breakfast Club will be participating.

The backpacks will be delivered to Moorestown Ecumenical Neighborhood Development (MEND) and the Moorestown school district before the start of the school year.

Those groups will then deliver the backpacks to those in need.

This year the club has funded many local individual charities including:
- the YMCA - Camp No Worries,
- Moorestown Citizen of the Year,
-160 backpacks filled every year
-$20,000 annually in college scholarships to Moorestown
-Power up Gambia - Solar Panels
-Curing Polio via Rotary International
-Navajo Nation Clean Water Program
- 2 AEDs for the practice fields in Moorestown
- $10,000 pledged to the Moorestown Community House over five years to help refurbish the building.
