Each student will receive a $2,500 scholarship.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The Rotary Club of Moorestown has awarded a total of $25,000 in college scholarships to 10 graduating seniors from Moorestown High School, the club announced. The students were honored during the Rotary Club’s lunch meeting on June 21, where Rotarians heard from the students about their college and major of choice. They will each receive $2,500.

Moorestown High School Guidance Director Kat D’Ambra was also in attendance at the meeting. She praised all students recognized at the school’s Senior Recognition Reception held on June 11 and thanked the club for all its support.

“The scholarship recipients were selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, community service activities and financial need,” Moorestown Rotary Club Scholarship Committee Chairman Jeremy Countess said.
David Coriell (Albright College), Peter Coriell (College of the Holy Cross), Christopher Folgia, Jr. (Rowan University), Aleah McCoy (Rider University), Ethan McDevitt (Hamilton College) and Ella Peterson (Amherst College) received regular awards.

Rotarians raise funds for the scholarships through annual projects including the Scott Coffee 8K Memorial Run, held the first Saturday in June, and the Rotary Pancake Breakfast now held in the fall. The club thanks the entire community for its support of these events.

The main objective of Rotary is service: in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today’s most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence.

They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is "Service Above Self." Visit www.moorestownrotary.org or Rotary.org (international) for local events.

Business owners and employees interested in community service and fellowship are welcome to join the club on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. in the Community House ballroom on Main Street. The club meets weekly to enjoy fellowship, report on current club activities and hear speakers from a variety of non-profit, fundraising and community event leaders.

The club also offers an evening meeting held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 5:45 p.m. at Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar in the Moorestown Mall.
