Most Recreational Areas In NJ Wildfire Zone Closed Past July 4th
The Mullica River Fire has damaged about 13,500 acres, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection said Thursday.
SOUTH JERSEY — Most recreational areas in the path of the wildfire in Wharton State Forest earlier this month will not reopen until after the Independence Day holiday, the New Jersey State Park Service said.
The Mullica River from U.S. Route 206 to Lock's Bridge, as well as the Batsto River from Quaker Bridge to Batsto will open Friday, the agency said.
Mountain Bike and Hiking trails may open July 9 and Mullica River Camp may open July 15, according to the agency. Lock's Bridge to Constable Bridge "will remain closed indefinitely," according to the agency.
