Mount Holly Police Department Honors Officers for Dedicated Work to Support the Aleshire, Wurst & Holmes Memorial Foundation

Mount Holly PD Honors Officers for Dedicated Work

The Mount Holly Police Department recently gathered to honor four officers for their work in support of the Township’s Aleshire, Wurst & Holmes Memorial Foundation and Fallen Officers Memorial Fund.

Over the course of the past year, Officer Deborah Brewer, Officer Clifford Spencer, Officer Nicholas LaLena and Officer John Cidoni have served on the Fallen Officers Committee, charged with organizing and executing the fundraising and awareness efforts for the Aleshire, Wurst & Holmes Memorial Foundation and Fallen Officers Memorial Fund. Each officer received a commendation from Mount Holly Police Chief Thomas F. Mastrangelo for their hard work and tireless dedication.

On March 28, 1975, two patrolmen died and one patrolman was wounded and paralyzed at the hands of a sniper on Garden Street. Patrolman Donald Aleshire of the Mount Holly Police Department and Patrolman William Wurst of the Hainesport Police Department were both fatally wounded at the scene. Patrolman John Holmes of the Mount Holly Police department was also wounded and paralyzed from the sniper’s bullets, and then died from his injuries 17 years later. Today, the Aleshire, Wurst & Holmes Memorial Foundation and Fallen Officers Memorial Fund are set up in their honor, supporting the families of Township officers who have fallen in the line of duty.
