MTC Receives County Grant
Moorestown Theater Company will use award to implement diversity outreach program.

The Moorestown Theater Company was awarded a $2,000 grant from the Burlington County Freeholders.
MTC was one of 10 local nonprofit arts organizations and nonprofit groups that showcase the arts—ranging from community theater groups to sponsors of art exhibits—that were awarded $37,000 in grant funding.
This is the seventh year MTC has received a county grant, Morgan said. Winning the grant allows MTC to apply for grants through the State Council on the Arts.

“Comparatively speaking, these are not huge awards, but they do provide support to local organizations that scramble to put together working resources, and that rely heavily on dedicated volunteers,” said Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio.
The grants, which require matching funds from the recipients, are part of a $80,842 grant from the N.J. State Council on the Arts.

“We’re always pleased to receive grants,” said Mark Morgan, producing artistic director.
The funds will be used to establish a diversity outreach program. Morgan said that MTC is working with Crossroads Programs in Willingboro to allow children in the program to attend the Moorestown Theater Company’s summer camp, Summer Stage ’11. The Crossroads Program works with youth that are homeless, abandoned or at-risk.
Moorestown Theater Company will hold three, three-week sessions of its Summer Stage this year.
- June 20-July 8: Bye-Bye Birdie
- July 11-July 29: Disney’s Aladdin Jr.
- Aug. 1-19: The Wizard of Oz
This is MTC’s sixth year of Summer Stage, which is open to campers ages 6-17.
Registration is available online at the Moorestown Theater Company’s website. Campers who register for The Wizard of Oz and one other session can receive a $50 discount.
